For my senior thesis I created a book made up of three chapters examining diary entries, letters and autobiographies of Frida Kahlo, Georgia O'Keeffe and Yayoi Kusama. I paired each letter or diary entry with a few of the works by the artists and connected each chapter to the next with the letters one artist wrote to the other.
A letter Georgia O'Keeffe wrote to her husband. She mentioned a train she saw in Texas, so I paired it with one of her art works, "Train at Night in the Desert".
Cover of the book shows the artists first names, signed by them.
Beginning of chapter two, an introduction of Georgia O'Keeffe's life.
Each chapter starts with the artist's signature and a personal belonging (above Frida Kahlo's cast).
A letter Yayoi Kusama wrote to her fellow artist and friend, Donald Judd. I paired it with an image of the two artists together in Japan and an artwork of Yayoi Kusama's.
A letter Georgia O'Keeffe wrote to Mrs. Roosevelt on Equal Rights Amendment, I paired it with O'Keeffe's nude watercolor images.
A letter Frida Kahlo wrote to Georgia O'Keeffe.
